It’s happened to the best of us.

You’ve been talking with a prospect pretty regularly, and feeling hopeful that it may end in a sale. But then a week goes by and they still haven’t responded to your last email.

Yes, my friend, you’ve been ghosted.

This situation calls for a creative solution — something that will grab your prospect’s attention and prompt a response (and maybe make them laugh a little). It’s the perfect time for a funny, off-the-wall, email.

To give you a few ideas and spark your creativity, here are six creative emails for when prospects ghost you.

1. Stood Up for the Prom

This one is for the millennials. If you were a fan of Friends, you’ll remember poor young Ross getting stood up for the prom by Rachel. 💔 Harness that heartbreak into a funny message for your prospects.

Subject: Are we on a break? 😢

Hi [First Name],

I haven’t heard from you since you asked to reschedule our [product/service] meeting, and it’s reminding me a lot of when Rachel stood Ross up on prom night …

Jokes aside, I was curious if you’re still interested in putting some time on the calendar for us to discuss strategies for [achieving x goal or outcome].

Here’s my calendar if you’d like to talk in more detail [calendar link]. If you’re no longer interested, no problem — just let me know so I can return my tux.

Pining for you,

[Your Name]

2. Hello?

Ok music lovers, break out the karaoke machine and get your prospects’ attention by serenading them with a little Adele.

Subject: 🎶I must have called a thousand times…

Hello,

It's me.

I was wondering if after all these years you'd like to meet?

🎶I must have called a thousand times…

But when I call, you never seem to be home.

🎤*ahem* Is this thing on?

Should I take this personally?

Ok, jokes (and Adele lyrics) aside, the last time we talked, we discussed [pain point] and how [product/service] could help [drive x result/accomplish x goal] over [specific time frame].

Are you interested in continuing our discussion? If so, shoot me an email or give me a call. If not, just let me know so I can stop blasting Adele.

🎵At least I can say that I tried,

[Your name]

3. Wheel … of … FORTUNE!

Love a good word puzzle? Harness your inner Vanna White for a cheeky way of saying, “Hey, let’s connect!”

Subject: Want to buy a vowel?

Hey there [first name],

L_T’_ CH_T T_IS W_ _K!

giphy-Feb-16-2026-08-01-28-1839-PM

Were you able to fill in my puzzle? 🤔 (Hint: You may want to buy a vowel)

The correct answer is (drumroll, please)...”LET’S CHAT THIS WEEK!”

(Forgive me — I’m a die-hard Wheel of Fortune fan.)

I know you’re busy, but I’d love the opportunity to learn more about your goals and share how I can help you meet them. Book some time with me here: [calendar link]

Until next time … your friendly neighborhood Pat Sajak,

[Your name]

4. Alien Abduction

Sometimes, it’s been so long since you’ve heard from a prospect that it’s time to give them one last chance to engage … and then cut the cord. After all, if they’re really not interested, you’re better off spending your time on other prospects, right?

Here’s one funny way to give them an out.

Subject: 🌎Earth to [prospect’s name] … anyone there?

Hi [first name],

When I last heard from you, you mentioned [event or obstacle] might delay your decision. Which of the following best fits where you’re at right now?

  1. I’m ready to move forward — let’s talk!
  2. I need more info — can you send a demo/additional quote or give me a call?
  3. I’ve decided to take a different route and I’m no longer interested
  4. Aliens abducted me and took me to their home planet for testing. I’m back now, but might need a few weeks to recover before I can make a decision. I’m definitely interested though!

Please respond with your answer. If you’re not interested, I’ll stop bugging you — just let me know.

Live long and prosper,

5. Did I Do That? 🤓

Back to 90s sitcoms, take a page from Urkel’s book and ask your prospect if there’s something you did or didn’t do that caused them to ghost you.

Subject: Was it me? 😬

Hi [first name],

I really enjoyed exploring [product/service] with you, but I haven’t been able to reach you for a while.

Was it me?

giphy-Feb-16-2026-08-03-38-0171-PM

I’d love your feedback — is there anything I could have done differently that might have led to us working together?

Looking forward to hearing from you,

6. Crying in My Coffee

Sometimes, a little over-the-top emotion can grab a prospect’s attention (as long as you keep it funny 😉).

Subject: Will you leave me crying in my coffee? ☕

Hi [first name],

So … it’s been a while since I heard from you.

The last thing I want to do is be a pest or clutter up your inbox, so I thought I’d reach out one last time before I take you off my list.

If you’re still interested, please respond to this email with a quick “Yes!” and I’ll keep reaching out.

If I don’t hear from you, I’ll assume that means you’re no longer interested in [product/service] and, once I have a good cry, I’ll remove you from my list and move on.

Wishing you the best either way,

[Your name]
